Initial Film Pitch Feedback

Feedback

Our feedback based on how clear the genre, themes and massage was seemed to be positive overall and many people said that our genre was clear based n the opening scene we described and that our film had a good message and range of themes. However, some people said that our film genre could be unclear if the scenes are not properly executed and so we therefore need to be very thorough and keep this in mind both when filming and especially editing.

Our peers said that our narrative was very interesting and original. However someone said that it was unclear how we were going to show that the modern woman did not want to vote. We considered this and concluded that she would receive a letter that stated that there was a vote coming up and that people should not forget to vote. We would then show the woman throwing this letter away and not giving it much thought. Some other people also thought that the film could be predictable.
We received very positive feedback on our characters as people said that they were interesting and this was enhanced by the contrast between the two.  The characters also have specific roles and are unique. Most people thought that our characters were very relatable because they were just ordinary women but specific to their time periods. However, some of our peers thought that our characters are currently underdeveloped. But, this is something that we can discuss as a group when we are gathering props and deciding on mise en scene that will hint towards the character's lives.
Most people thought that our film idea was suitable for our target audience and that the plot should draw people in. Someone suggested adding some 'lighter' aspects to make the film more enjoyable for younger viewers however, we felt that this would ruin the genre of the film and the overall atmosphere.
People believed that our institution choices were realistic and fitting- especially Film4 as they produce many historical/factual dramas which is what our film will be like.

Overall, people said that they would watch our film and they think that it has an original plot and characters. It is doable as the location is suitable and local to us. However, our opening is dependent on mise en scene and so lots of thought is going to have to go into our prop selections and placement. Some people were also concerned that we would not be able to achieve the right costume for the 1900s time period. However, we feel that this will not be a problem because when we researched 1900s women's dress further, we found that many wore shirts, long skirts and a long coat over the top. These are all items that we can easily get hold of and it will also not cost much money to purchase a sash with 'Votes For Women' printed on it to complete our costumes.
